1. Label & Flexible Packaging Converting Operator

Maritime Labels & Packaging, Atlantic Canada’s premier digital printer for labels, shrink sleeves, and flexible packaging, is seeking new team members. Positions are available in the finishing department.

Job Title / Department / Hours:

Finishing Machine Operator / Finishing / Full time weekly minimum 30 hours, maximum 48 hours

Overview:

The Finishing Technician will report to the Production Supervisor and Production Management and will safely operate equipment such as die cutter, core cutter, slitter / rewinder, seamer, sheeter, embellishment equipment, laminator, and pouch machine to convert printed rolls into the finished product. 

Responsibility and Duties include but are not limited to:

- Follow and update job specifications and details outlined by production management system.

- Retrieve, maintain, mount, and/or organize: flexible dies, trays, anilox, coating rollers, blades, lamination, inks, varnishes, rollers, nips, knives, and cylinders.

- Set up equipment using HMI systems, thread materials, routine maintenance. 

- Check print, finish, and cut quality during production while operating equipment. 

- Assist others with moving materials.

- Maintain a clean uncluttered work area. Clean and maintain equipment.

- Check print, finish, and cut quality during production.

- Ability to lift ~50lbs safely and effectively.

- Work overtime as needed to meet production goals. Flexibility to work alternate shifts outside of our core business hours, Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Skill Requirements:

- Experience operating manufacturing equipment preferred.

- Troubleshooting and machine maintenance experience preferred.

- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

- Excellent manual dexterity. Ability to stand for extended periods.

- Strong attention to detail, precision, and analytical skills and commitment to food safety culture. 

- Understand units of measure — metric and imperial.

- Ability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities in equipment and product.

- Digital literacy — keyboarding skills, touch screens, MacOS.

- Ability to grasp new ideas and incorporate them into expected outcomes

- Work well in a team environment, diplomatically and professionally.

Compensation and Benefits:

- Paid vacation plus 11 paid holidays per year awarded after probationary period.

- 3 paid sick / personal days per calendar year, reviewed annually.

- Competitive compensation commensurates with experience ($18.00 - $25.00 / hour)
